The city itself oozes culture with its outstanding art museums and places of interest. The most notable art gallery is the Royal Palace which contains hundreds of Spanish paintings and exhibitions.
Not something which attracts everybody, Madrid hosts the largest bull fighting ring in Spain. The bullfighting season begins in March and ends in October. Out of season the bullfighting ring is host to many music concerts and other events to entertain.
If you go at the right time, Madrid is almost always sunny. Due to its high altitude, the city tends to get a lot cooler at night and in the winter it’s not uncommon to experience 2 to 3 snowfalls each year.
The nightlife in Madrid is also notable for the youths to party all night long in the cities night clubs and bars.
The most common forms of travel in Madrid are by air, train, taxi and metro. Madrid is served by Barajas International Airport which currently deals with around 52 million people a year. The city’s metro network currently serving around four million people is one of the largest and fastest growing metro networks in the world. It’s the second largest network in Western Europe only to follow London’s underground. In 2007 the network was expanded to run over 200 miles of line.
